A 27-year law enforcement veteran will file to run against Bernalillo County John Allen in the June 2nd Democratic primary election, City Desk has learned.

Phil Snedeker tells City Desk he will file qualifying paperwork and signatures Tuesday morning on local filing day. He has served in the criminal justice system for 47 years, according to a biography he provided. “Snedaker began his career in law enforcement, as a police officer, with the Silver City Police Department, while attending college. He subsequently served, for a ten year period, as a New Mexico State Police Officer… and was subsequently elected as a Democrat, as the Sheriff of Quay County… He subsequently served, for a 31-year period, as a certified peace officer, probation and parole officer,
and administrator for the Albuquerque regional office of the state Probation and Parole Division, serving for an 18 year period as the regional administrator of the District Court Services Office in Albuquerque.”
Snedeker did not identify any specific grievances against Allen who announced last week that he would seek a second four-year term.
