The Bernalillo County Board of County Commissioners will consider several affordable housing proposals and recognize the outgoing fire chief during their administrative meeting Tuesday night.
The commission is scheduled to vote on a $500,000 appropriation to support Family Promise’s purchase of two triplexes for transitional housing, according to the meeting agenda released Friday. Vice Chair Adriann Barboa is sponsoring the measure.
Commissioners will also hold public hearings on amendments to the county’s Affordable Housing Ordinance aimed at streamlining grant delivery and a time extension for the Casitas del Camino housing project’s revenue bond authorization.
During the public comment period, County Manager Cindy Chavez will recognize Fire Rescue Chief Greg Perez and announce his successor.
The consent agenda includes approval of Ellen Braden’s appointment to the Behavioral Health Advisory Board representing Albuquerque and Robert Trujillo’s appointment to the County Planning Commission for District 2.
Commissioners will also consider budgeting $686,192 for the Metropolitan Detention Center’s fourth-quarter payment to the University of New Mexico Hospital for medical and mental health services.
Other items include adopting the county’s 2026 capital outlay priorities for the New Mexico Legislature and authorizing a property nuisance abatement on Pajarito Mesa.
The Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department seeks approval to use a cooperative agreement exceeding $300,000 for the Sandia Ranch Park Playground project.
The meeting begins at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Ken Sanchez Commission Chambers, One Civic Plaza NW. Public comment will be accepted both in-person and virtually.
