A 126-room extended-stay hotel and food hall broke ground Friday on Central Avenue, adding new dining and lodging options near Presbyterian Hospital in a neighborhood undergoing redevelopment.
The $96,000-square-foot project will include a Marriott Residence Inn and Highlands Central Market, a food hall with 10 to 12 vendors. The development will connect to the medical campus via a skybridge, providing convenient access for healthcare workers and patients’ families.
“When you’re visiting a loved one in the hospital, sometimes all you need is a good meal and a place to rest,” Mayor Tim Keller said. “This project provides that for families and also creates a revitalized space for the surrounding neighborhoods.”
Titan Development is spearheading the project, which received a seven-year tax abatement worth approximately $998,000 from the city. In exchange, the developer will provide public amenities including enhanced pedestrian lighting, streetscape improvements, electric vehicle charging stations and rooftop gathering space.
The project sits in the Sycamore Metropolitan Redevelopment Area, where city officials have focused reinvestment efforts in recent years to transform vacant lots and deteriorating buildings.
“Thanks to a strong partnership with Titan Development, we’re bringing new energy and amenities to a corridor that’s key to Albuquerque’s future,” said Terry Brunner, director of the Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency.
Kurt Browning, a partner at Titan Development, said the hotel and food hall are part of broader redevelopment efforts in the Highlands area.
The Marriott Residence Inn and Highlands Central Market are expected to open in late 2026.
