Albuquerque Public Schools leaders are inviting the public to share their thoughts as the school board prepares the 2025-26 APS budget.
The Board of Education is hosting two listening sessions in the coming days.
โWe believe the public can be partners in the budget process, and weโre looking forward to getting as many ideas as we embark on the process for the next school year,โ Superintendent Gabriella Durรกn Blakey said. โWe want this to truly be a listening session so our board and staff can get a sense of what the public wants and needs for their schools.โ
Event dates are:
- Thursday, Oct. 24, at Berna Facio Professional Development Complex, 3315 Louisiana Blvd. NE.
- Monday, Oct. 28, at Jimmy Carter Middle School, 8901 Bluewater Road NW.
Each event will run from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdayโs session will be streamed on the Board of Educationโs YouTube channel.
โOur community has told us time and again that it wants input into key decisions, and we as a board feel strongly that those thoughts are vital,โ said Crystal Tapia-Romero, who heads the boardโs finance committee. โEveryone is working toward better outcomes for students in the district, and making certain our budget aligns with educational priorities is a meaningful first step.โ
