The Torrance County Animal Shelter had to close the doors of its Community Animal Food Pantry due to a lack of food for local pets.

The pantry serves low-income families who need assistance feeding their animals and primarily operates from monetary and food donations from the community.

According to officials from the shelter, theyโ€™ve had a hard time procuring enough donations to keep the pantry open. They say they donโ€™t know when theyโ€™ll be able to open up again until they have enough food to stay open for a longer period of time.

The pantry serves dozens of families every month.

The shelter accepts food donations by calling ahead to schedule a drop-off. For those who wish to make a monetary donation, visit torrancecounty.org and click the animal services tab.
